When you are in search of diamonds, there is only one place in Disney Dreamlight Valley to go. It’s the Forgotten Lands.

Diamonds are not the most common gem found in the Forgotten Lands, either. For that reason, it’s always a good idea to take a Mining Buddy along. That way, when you do hit Diamonds with your Royal Pickaxe, you’ll might get an extra one from your Mining Buddy as well.

Mining for Diamonds is often included as a duty in Star Paths. Sometimes you’re asked for any Diamond while other times only Shiny ones will do.

In Majesty and Magnolias Star Path, release on June 26, 2024, Shiny Diamonds are in demand. Star Path Duty # 77, Use your pickaxe to find a rare diamond, has you mining for 2 of the Shiny variety.

Remember the Mining Buddy? Well, the extra gems the Mining Buddy throws will not count toward the completion of the Star Path Duty, but… you can never have too many Diamonds, right?

Mining for Shiny Gems is always time-consuming. Nonetheless, there is one way to help the process along a little.

Head to your favorite crafting station and brew a batch of Miracle Pickaxe Polish. Once applied to your pickaxe, any mining spots that contain gems, will produce extra gems and these do count toward your Star Path Duties.

The Miracle Pickaxe Polish lasts for 10 swings of your pickaxe, sort of. You get a free swing at each mining spot. (see the Pro Tip below for additional information)

Miracle Pickaxe Polish Recipe:

• 10 Vitalys Crystal
• 5 Onyx
• 500 Dreamlight

Although it takes a lot of Dreamlight, another option is the Even More Miraculous Pickaxe Polish. This version of the polish gives you 25 swings of the pickaxe, plus 1 free swing at each mining spot.

Even More Miraculous Pickaxe Polish Recipe:

• 20 Vitalys Crystal
• 10 Onyx
• 1000 Dreamlight

The extra gems you gain when using the pickaxe polishes help increase the chance of getting the required Shiny Gems. Even so, using a Pickaxe Polish doesn’t guarantee Shiny Gems will fall. Only you can decide if it’s worth using your Dreamlight to craft some, or if you just want to swing away without any polish.

Pro Tip: Once you apply either pickaxe polish, our tests showed that you get one “free” swing at each Mining Spot. In our experience, it was the last swing. In other words, if it takes 5 swings to break the Mining spot, only 4 of the swings will “use up” some of the Pickaxe Polish.
