Eric has the Mystical Crystal artifact from the ruins. Hopefully it will help you figure out what is causing his compass to stop working properly and how to prevent it.

Take both items to Merlin and see what he thinks.

Quest Task: Make sure you have these items in your Inventory.

• Strange Artifact
• Sailor’s Compass

Merlin likes that Eric is trying to learn more about the history of Dreamlight Valley and is happy to help you prepare an enchantment for the compass.

The enchantment Merlin has in mind will require 2 things. He needs crystals, which can be mined in the Forgotten Lands, and Purified Night Shards, which can be crafted.

Craft a Purified Night Shard from a Dream Shard and a Night Shard. If you don’t have enough of either of these, you can get some by digging in any cracked earth spots throughout the Valley. The shards appear randomly.

Once you have enough of both, you’ll find the Purified Night Shard recipe under the Potion & Enchantment Menu at your crafting station.

Quest Task: Gather the Ingredients for the crystal extract:

• Purified Night Shard – 5
• Crystals – 10

Merlin takes the materials you’ve collected and works his magic, applying the mystical crystal properties to the compass.

In just a few moments, he hands you the Mystical Compass.

Eric should have no more issues with the compass when he navigates close to the ruins.

Quest Task: Bring the Ingredients for the enchantment to Merlin.

Quest Task: Make sure you have the Mystical Compass in your Inventory.

With a working compass once again, all Eric needs to continue his expedition is diving equipment.

Here is where to find everything to make the suit.

Fabric

• Purchase at Kristoff’s Stall for 220 Star Coins (appears randomly – max daily qty:10)
• Craft from Cotton
  • Cotton Seeds: Purchase at Goofy’s Stall-Sunlit Plateau for 42 Star Coins.

Iron Ingot

• Purchase at Kristoff’s Stall for 150 Star Coins (appears randomly – max daily qty:10)
• Craft from Iron Ore and Coal Ore.
  • Iron Ore: Mine in the Sunlit Plateau, Glade of Trust, Forest of Valor, Frosted Heights and Forgotten Lands.
  • Coal Ore: Mine anywhere in the Valley (random drop) or purchase at Kristoff’s Stall for 5 Star Coins (available daily in unlimited quantities)

Eric takes all the items you’ve gathered and assembles the diving suit.

He’s all set to head back out to sea. The mystical crystal is only the beginning. There are a lot more artifacts to be found!
