The Storybook Vale
Purchase, with real dollars, the expansion “The Storybook Vale” and the world of Storybook Vale unfolds before you. This new land is full of adventure and exciting things to find as you head out to explore.
As expected, your adventures lead you to across the full expanse of The Storybook Vale.
If this is your first experience with a paid expansion, you will find navigating The Storybook Vale a little more complicated than Dreamlight Valley, which is simply divided into 8 Biomes.
The Storybook Vale’s map uses a pattern similar to Eternity Isle’s, with Biomes within Biomes. At the beginning, this can be a bit confusing. So, knowing the lay of the land will help tremendously.

Map Basics
When you first land the Hummingbird Airship at The Storybook Vale’s dock, during the Quest “Welcome to The Storybook Vale”, you alight on the path leading up to The Library of Lore.
The Library of Lore is part of a larger area called The Bind and is often referred to in that context. However, to add a little more confusion, there is an area around The Library of Lore, and separate from it, that is also called The Bind. This smaller area that is known as The Bind, is also part of the larger area called The Bind… yup confusing. Let us clarify.
The Storybook Vale is divided into 3 large areas, we’ll call them Regions.
Each Region is further divided into smaller areas. We’ll call these smaller areas Districts, just to keep things straight.
While Regions and Districts are our terms, we hope they help provide clarity.

The Lay of the Land
Here is the lay of the land.
The 3 large Regions in The Storybook Vale are The Bind, Everafter and Mythopia.
The Bind is divided into 2 Districts:
- The Library of Lore
- The Bind
Everafter is divided into 4 Districts:
- The Wild Woods
- The Fallen Fortress
- Teapot Falls
- The Beanstalk Marshes
Mythopia is divided into 4 Districts:
- The Elysian Fields
- The Fairy Plains
- The Statue’s Shadow
- Mount Olympus
Take note of the icons above the names of the individual Districts. These will help you identify which Region the District belongs to.

Navigating The Storybook Vale
Your adventures on The Storybook Vale start in The Library of Lore. However, once you complete Merida’s Quest, A New Chapter, you are free to explore the rest of the island, in whatever order you choose.
Merida does provide some suggestions on where to go next. Still, it’s up to you to decide if you want to heed her advice.
Plus, exploring the various Districts doesn’t mean you need to complete the quests that appear as you enter them the first time, in the same order. Feel free to look around, gather goodies and check things out, while leaving the quests for later.
Moving between districts is also quite easy in The Storybook Vale. On this island, each of the District’s has its’ own Well. Repair the Well and it becomes a Fast Travel location. Very handy!

Story Magic – The Storybook Vale Currency
It takes Story Magic to open the various districts of The Storybook Vale.
Story Magic is obtained by completing Storybook Duties, which are found under the Dreamlight menu. These duties replace Dreamlight Duties at the top of the left menu while you are in The Storybook Vale and continually regenerate. This allows you to obtain as much Story Magic as you want or need.
There is also a new Dreamlight Duty category at the bottom of the menu, called simply Storybook Vale. This section contains the Storybook Duties that do not regenerate when they are completed.
Listed below are the amounts of Story Magic needed to open each of the Districts in The Storybook Vale.
