Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho It’s off to mine we go!
Mining is a mindless task that is necessary for many parts of Disney Dreamlight Valley activities, such as giving favorite gifts and occasionally bribing Scrooge. Most notably, you need loads upon loads of gems for crafting.
Mining can be a fun and lucrative pastime. There are multiple mining spots in each biome in addition to the Vitalys Mine in the Sunlit Plateau.

Mining for Gold (and other resources)
Gems aren’t the only things that come from the rocks. Just as precious for use in crafting are the raw materials: iron ore, gold nuggets, coal, stone, and crystals.

Are you feeling like one of the seven dwarfs and digging the day away for not a lot of return? If you have some Dreamlight to spare, you are in luck!
Try Dreamlight Valley’s Miracle Pickaxe Polish! Use it on your pickaxe and make it glow. This magical polish will last for approximately 10 swings of your pickaxe and have more gems falling at your feet.
Miracle Pickaxe Polish Crafting Recipe:
- 10 Vitalys Crystal
- 5 Onyx
- 500 Dreamlight
Head to a nearby crafting station to whip up a batch. You will find the crafting recipe under Potion & Enchantment.
Here’s how it works:
Once applied to your pickaxe, mining spots that contain gems, are likely to produce extra gems. The Miracle Pickaxe Polish gives you 10 swings of your pickaxe. However, our tests show that you get one “free” swing at each Mining Spot. In our experience, the free swing was always the last one.
- In other words, if it takes 5 swings to break the Mining spot, only 4 of the swings will “use up” some of the pickaxe polish.

- 20 Vitalys Crystal
- 10 Onyx
- 1000 Dreamlight
While 1000 Dreamlight is needed for this great polish, it lasts much longer. This version of the polish gives you 25 swings of the pickaxe, plus 1 free swing at each mining spot.
Increase that number of gems you receive even more by taking a mining friend along!
