Make a Snowman for the Gift of Giving Event

There’s a new and festive treasure chest in the Plaza of Disney Dreamlight Valley. It arrives along with the 2024 Gift of Giving Event on December 18! Open it to find a strange memory inside. The Memory looks like instructions on how to make a Snowman, but this Snowman doesn’t look like it’s made at your crafting station. Hmm, where to start? We’re here to help!

Updated 12-27-24

The Memory

The Memory inside the Festive Red Treasure Chest is very cryptic.

Although, I must admit, they are better than the instructions we got with that stool I needed to assemble… but I digress…

Back to the Memory.

The instructions displayed in the memory seems to be a list of items, divided into three groups, A thru C. The quantities on the items are presented in Roman Numerals.

The Memory also shows a snowy land in the lower left corner which may, at first glance, just look like a nice decoration. It is actually more than that. It represents where to start building your Snowman.

So, head to the Frosted Heights to get the snowball rolling.

Roman Numeral Refresher

Just in case you are not all that familiar with the Roman Numeral system, here is a little refresher course.

The Roman Numeral symbols we need to know to make a Snowman are as follows:

  • I = 1
  • V = 5
  • X = 10
  • L = 50

You use up to three of the same symbol, in a row, when counting using Roman Numerals. So, I = 1, II = 2, and III = 3.

However, when you get to the number just before the next type of symbol, 4 for example, it gets a little trickier. Then, instead of adding another of the same symbol to the string of three you already have, you subtract one from next number, in this example 5. To show this, the number you are subtracting goes to the left of the next symbol.

So, 4 = IV, 9=IX, etc. Here is the full list from 1 to 11, so you can see the pattern.

  • I=1
  • II=2
  • III=3
  • IV=4
  • V=5
  • VI=6
  • VII=7
  • VIII=8
  • IX=9
  • X=10
  • XI=11

and so on.

Here are the other numbers you see in the Memory: XV=15, XVIII = 18, XXIII = 23.

The Frosted Heights Snowball

Scan the Frosted Heights for a very Large Snowball. This is the base of your new Snowman.

You need to have the items from the memory in your Backpack Inventory, starting with 50 Snowballs, to proceed.

Interact with the Large Snowball.

The first time you do, you get a single box popup. Transfer the snowballs to the popup box.

ProTip: You can have more than the required amount of snowballs in your backpack. When you click on the snowballs to transfer them to the popup box, it will only take the number it needs, which in the case of the snowballs is 50.

How to Make Fabric

A lot of Fabric is needed to make your new Snowman. You need 23 pieces of Fabric in the materials group B and another 15 for the materials group C. Since you don’t actually need to keep the quantities separate, you can make all 38 pieces of fabric at one time at your crafting station.

The Fabric crafting recipe is found under Refined Materials.

Fabric Crafting Recipe:

  • Cotton – 5

You need 5 sprigs of cotton for each piece of Fabric, so your snowman will require 115 pieces of cotton. If you don’t have that much cotton in your Inventory, here is where to get the seeds to grow it.

Where to find Cotton Seeds:

  • Seed Sold: Goofy’s Stalls – Sunlit Plateau (Dreamlight Valley
  • Seed Cost: 42 Star Coins
  • Time to Grow: 25 min.
  • Yield: 1

ProTip: Cotton plants dry up often in the 25 minutes they take to grow. Expect to water them at least twice.

Material Grouping B

Now you’re ready to finish gathering the next set of materials for your Snowman.

Materials Group B from the Memory is asking for the following:

  • Dandelion – 18
  • Hardwood – 4
  • Fabric – 23

In case you are short anything, here is where to find them. Remember, you need to have them in your Backpack Inventory when you approach the partially built Snowman. The items will not pull from any of your Treasure Chests.

Dandelion: Grows wild in the Plaza

Hardwood:

  • Dig up tree stumps with your handy Royal Shovel in the Forest of Valor
  • Found on the Ground in:
    • Forest of Valor (Dreamlight Valley)
    • Glade of Trust (Dreamlight Valley)
    • Sunlit Plateau (Dreamlight Valley)
    • Frosted Heights (Dreamlight Valley)

Material Grouping C

The last step in making a Snowman for the 2024 Gift of Giving Event is to add the items found in the Materials Group C in the memory:

  • Green Passion Lily – 10
  • Carrot – 1
  • Fabric – 15

Put the items in your Backpack Inventory and head back to the partially built Snowman.

Here is where to find anything you’re missing.

Green Passion Lily: Grows wild in the Frosted Heights

Carrot:

  • Carrot Sold: Goofy’s Stalls – Peaceful Meadow (Dreamlight Valley)
  • Cost: 66 Star Coins
  • Seed Sold: Goofy’s Stalls – Peaceful Meadow (Dreamlight Valley)
  • Seed Cost: 10 Star Coins
  • Time to Grow: 15 min.
  • Yield: 1
