Talking to Merlin in front of Dream Castle, you learn that the castle played an important role in the former Ruler’s life prior to the Forgetting. Once they left, huge Night Thorns surrounded the beautiful castle. Your current magic won’t touch them. They are much stronger than anything you’ve encountered so far. Merlin doesn’t seem put off, however, and beckons you to follow him.

Standing in front of the Plaza’s Well, Merlin explains that all of Dreamlight Valley is made of Dreamlight. It’s what makes everything around you sparkle! As the Forgetting started taking over the Valley, Dreamlight became scarcer and scarcer. Now that you’re back, some of the magic is returning!

Back to the hunt for Royal Tools!

Of all the Royal Tools, finding the Royal Fishing Rod is the most challenging. It takes you on a small parallel quest, “Fishing Expedition“, led by Goofy. This is handy, however, as Goofy’s an avid fisherman and happy to provide some fishing pointers.

Quest Task: Keep exploring the Valley to find the four Royal Tools and talk to Merlin.

With all the Royal Tools in hand, it’s time to refocus you attention on the Dream Castle entrance. It’s going to take 2000 Dreamlight and your magic to remove them. Recalling Merlin’s discussion at the Plaza Well, you’re now ready to complete some Dreamlight Duties.

• Access the Dreamlight menu from the Well or by pressing “+ ” (Switch Controls)

Once you’ve accumulated a hefty 2000 Dreamlight, or more, return to Merlin and he’ll accompany you to the Castle Entrance. A little focus of magic, and 2000 Dreamlight of course, and the Night Thorns melt away.

Greedy Night Thorns! I wonder what they do with all the Dreamlight!

Anyway, time to go inside.

As you enter the Castle doors, a large and beautiful castle spreads out before you. A grand staircase curves around both sides leading to upper floors. This is wonderful!

It appears there are also a few chests, hidden and not, for you to check out. Treasure is always welcome!! But first, Merlin is getting very excited. His memory is returning, so he has more to tell you about the Dream Castle.

Quest Task: Enter the Dream Castle.

It turns out that quite a few of the Villagers of Disney Dreamlight Valley returned to their own realms once the Forgetting started taking over the Valley. They got there through the various doors in Dream Castle, which act like portals.

It’s up to you to enter their Realms and bring them home. Unfortunately, they won’t remember Dreamlight Valley or know you. Your persuasion skills are about to be tested!

According to Merlin, it appears you have enough Dreamlight to open one of the three doors on the entrance level of the Dream Castle. In reality, the first door you open is “free”.

How to pick when they all seem interesting?

• A desolate planet with a shy robot.
• A restaurant with a great little chef.
• The ocean with a demigod.

Since you can never go wrong with food, I choose the restaurant! However, there isn’t a bad choice, so it’s up to you!

Passing through a Castle door, you’ll be transported to a new Realm and a new Character Quest will begin.
