The Purpose of the Pillars
There is a Huge Pillar in the Meadow that is surrounded by dark magic. Merlin believes you’re ready to learn more about it. Head over with Merlin and take a closer look.
Merlin explains that this Pillar is one of several throughout the Valley. Their purpose is to protect the Valley from Dark Magic. But, as you can see, they are broken! A piece from each of the Pillars has gone missing and you need to help find them.

Orbs of Virtue
It turns out that the missing piece of the Pillar is an Orb of Virtue containing powerful magic. Each Pillar and its’ orb stand for a different virtue. The virtues represent the values in which the Old Ruler built Dreamlight Valley around. Trust and Friendship are just two examples.
When the Old Ruler left, the Orbs went missing. Some were removed for their magic and others simply lost.
The Orb of Friendship
The Pillar in the Peaceful Meadow held the Orb of Friendship and is therefore known as the Pillar of Friendship. This orb isn’t lost exactly. It remains in the Peaceful Meadow but is tangled in some very strong Night Thorns that are resistant to your magic.
The way to weaken these Night Thorns and free the orb from its imprisonment, is by performing acts of Friendship. Give a friend a gift, have a conversation, spend some time together. These are all good ways to show a friend you care and make your friendship even stronger!

Cursed Well
The Orb of Friendship is safely returned to its’ place within the pillar. The dark aura around the Pillar of Friendship is gone.
That act has a few other impacts to the Valley. The Peaceful Meadow well is no longer cursed and the dark magic surrounding the Night Thorns that block the entrances to all other areas of the Valley are also gone. Not bad, not bad at all!

Well Teleporting
Interesting. It turns out the wells have an unexpected capability. They can teleport you from one well to another. Cool! This is a fast and easy way to travel between Biomes. Teleporting is bound to come in very, very handy!

See More of the Valley
With the dark magic gone from the entrances to the rest of the Valley, it’s time to go exploring. Merlin suggests heading to Dazzle Beach. It turns out that is the “cheapest” location to enter, as it only costs 1000 Dreamlight to remove the Night Thorns.
You, more than likely, also have a few quests waiting for you to “unlock” Dazzle Beach before they can proceed. However, you can actually pick any of the Biomes to explore. It all depends on how much Dreamlight you’ve accumulated, as the Night Thorns demand payment before they move away from the entrances. Determine which way to head next. The choice is up to you.
Quest Task: Gain access to a new Biome.
Quest Task: Return to Merlin.
Pro Tip: If you’re struggling for Star Coins, but have plenty of Dreamlight, consider heading to the Forgotten Lands, via the Sunlit Plateau. Although this requires a total of 22,000 Dreamlight, the Forgotten Lands gives you access to Pumpkin seeds. These pricey seeds, 275 Star Coins each, are sold at Goofy’s Forgotten Lands Stall. Grow and cook 3 pumpkins to make a meal that earns you a lot of Star Coins when sold to Goofy. You’ll get 2787 Star Coins per meal to be exact, giving you a hefty profit. If making money is a priority, this is a great way to do it.
