Currency of the Valley

Welcome to the Ultimate Guide to Disney Dreamlight Valley currency! Disney Dreamlight Valley has so many things for you to do. And just like real life, a lot of them require Disney Dreamlight Valley’s equivalent to money. Except, there is a little twist to Dreamlight Valley’s currency that makes things even more interesting. You don’t just have one type of currency. There are actually four different types of currency for you to use in Dreamlight Valley alone.

Once you purchase the expansion A Rift in Time, your world “expands” to Eternity Isle. Not to be outdone, Eternity Isle adds one more type of currency to the mix.

Mind-boggling? A little perhaps. But don’t fret. We’re here to help!

Dreamlight Valley Currency Made Easy

Disney Dreamlight Valley currency can be confusing at first, simply because there are so many different types. Some of the types are unique to Dreamlight Valley or Eternity Isle, while others can be used in both.

  • Dreamlight Valley introduces you to Star Coins, Dreamlight, Moonstones, and Star Path Tokens. Dreamlight is an exclusive Dreamlight Valley currency.
  • Eternity Isle adds Mist to the mix. Mist is found and used only on Eternity Isle.

It comes as no surprise that the different types of ‘currency’ are used to pay for different sorts of things, such as furniture, home improvements, entrance to Biomes and more.

Let’s break this down…

Star Coins

Star coins are the most widely used currency in the game. You gain Star Coins by selling items at Goofy’s Stall, removing Night Thorns, opening treasure chests and performing random Biomes cleanup activities. Star Coins are used on a daily basis in both Dreamlight Valley and Eternity Isle. You can never really have too many.

Star Coins are used to:

  • Purchase from Scrooge’s, Remy’s, Goofy’s, and Kristoff’s stores or stalls, to name a few. At these locations, you can buy furniture, clothes, cooking ingredients, crafting materials, quest items, and more.
  • Activate or release curses from the wells.
  • Build new homes or upgrade existing buildings and stalls.
  • Expand your home or backpack storage capacity.

Dreamlight

Looking to enter new areas, a.k.a. Biomes, in Dreamlight Valley? Then, you need Dreamlight.

The best and fastest way to collect Dreamlight is by performing Dreamlight Duties. Gaze into a Dreamlight Valley Well to see what Duties await to be performed. Actually, Well Gazing is really just a fancy way of opening your menu, but it sounds good.

Check out the various Dreamlight producing Duties, under the “Dreamlight” Menu. Of the first 9 tabs under Dreamlight, the bottom 8 contain a fixed set of tasks. When a task in one of these groupings is complete, say Foraging for instance, the tasks within it shuffle around. Don’t be fooled. The completed task simply moves to the bottom of the Foraging list. Any unfinished tasks will then move up the list, until all are complete. No new tasks are added, however.

Dreamlight Duties are different. A list of 6 Dreamlight Duties are always displayed for you to complete. Once you finish one and collect the Dreamlight reward, another random task takes its’ place. You can earn an unlimited amount of Dreamlight performing Dreamlight Duties! And Bonus, they’re usually fast and easy to complete.

Dreamlight can also be crafted. Use a crafting station and the dream shards you dig up or find during daily Biomes cleanup activities to create Dreamlight.

Dreamlight is used to:

  • Open new Biomes.
  • Craft many different and usually powerful items.
  • Complete Quests tasks.

Moonstones

Moonstones are an in-game purchasable (for real dollars) currency. However, Moonstones are also rewarded as part of the weekly DreamSnaps and periodic Star Path events. In addition, a blue chest containing 50 Moonstones randomly appears daily. It adds up over time, so don’t miss the opportunity to find the blue chests!

Moonstones are used to:

  • Purchase goods from the “Item Shop”, a premium shop found under “Shop” in your menu.
  • Purchase DreamBundles, which are DLC that provide addition quests and unique treasures.
  • Upgrade Star Paths.

Star Path Tokens

Star Path Tokens are earned and used exclusively during the Star Path Special Events.

  • Earn Tokens by completing Star Path duties.
  • Use them to purchase Star Path rewards.
  • After all rewards are purchased, any remaining tokens can be used to buy Moonstones.

Eternity Isle – Mist

Eternity Isle introduces a new currency, used exclusively on Eternity Isle. It’s called Mist. Mist is Eternity Isles equivalent of Dreamlight in Dreamlight Valley.

Similar to Dreamlight, the easiest way to earn Mist is by completing Mist Duties. You’ll also obtain Mist by removing Splinters of Fate, Swirling Sands, and cleaning up the various Areas of this new Island.

Mist Duties are found under Dreamlight in your menu. While you’re on Eternity Isle, they will replace Dreamlight Duties at the top of the list. Mist Duties react in the same way as Dreamlight Duties. A continuous list of 6 Mist Duties will always be available for you to perform. As soon as you complete and collect the reward for an existing one, a new one takes its place.

Also, like Dreamlight Duties, there is a separate category of finite Mist Duties to give you an additional option for earning Mist, especially early in the Eternity Isle adventure. Although in the case of Mist, there is only one additional Mist category. It’s called “Eternity Isle” and found at the bottom of the Dreamlight Menu.

Mist is used to:

  • Open new Areas in Eternity Isle
  • Complete Quests tasks.
  • Craft special items.
  • Upgrade the Royal Hourglass
