Merlin really dislikes the Mushroom Clusters that continually pop up all over Dreamlight Valley. The are constantly getting in the way.

In his quest, A New Enchantment, Merlin was able to find a way to get rid of some, but it was only temporary.

He has been continuing his research, however. Now, with the help of the recently discovered Night Shards, he believes he can make an enchantment for your Royal Watering Can that will be permanent.

Merlin provides a list of materials he needs for the enchantment. It’s likely that you won’t have everything in your Inventory.

• Head to a nearby crafting station to make the Purified Night Shards from Dream Shards and Night Shards. Both are found, randomly, by digging in cracked earth spots throughout Dreamlight Valley.
• Mushroom can be found growing wild in the Glade of Trust.
• Emeralds are mined in Glade of Trust or Forest of Valor.

Once you have everything in your Inventory, take them to Merlin.

Quest Task: Gather the Ingredients for Merlin’s experiment.

• Mushrooms – 10
• Emerald – 5
• Purified Night Shard – 3

Quest Task: Bring Merlin the Ingredients you collected.

It only takes Merlin a few minutes to prepare the enchantment and apply it to your Royal Watering Can.

Now for the real test of this dark experiment. Will it get rid of the mushroom patches!

Quest Task: Remove small patches of big Mushrooms from the Village – 3.

The enchantment worked!! The smaller mushroom clusters melt under the water of your Royal Watering Can. Merlin is elated.

The enchantment does seem to be limited, however. It handles the smaller clusters of mushrooms just fine, but it isn’t potent enough to have any effect on the larger clusters.

But that is a problem for another day.
