A Tale

This is a tale of stone and fire. Maui, demigod of the wind and sea, hero to all, is the star of the tale. Okay, not really. It’s really a tale of a stronger pickaxe and a Granite Fire Bowl. Although, I’ll give you the fact that Maui is the star.

So, let’s get on with the tale…

Dazzle Beach Debris

As Maui walks along Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Dazzle Beach, he comes across something caught in one of the Large Sand Debris piles.

This is worth further investigation.

Since Maui’s fishhook is not designed to break up the sand debris, but your pickaxe is, Maui comes to find you.

Needed: A Stronger Pickaxe

Maui leads you to Dazzle Beach and shows you the item caught in the Large Sand Rock Pile. Understanding that your pickaxe is currently not strong enough to break up such a big pile of debris, Maui suggests giving it an upgrade.

But there is a small catch. The supplies Maui needs to perform the upgrade to your pickaxe are still in the Moana Realm. If you’re willing to go and get it, Maui will happily upgrade the Royal Pickaxe so that it can handle these large piles of sand debris.

Sounds like a good deal. A trip to the Moana Realm it is.

Return Trip to Moana Realm

Passing through the middle door on Dream Castle’s main floor, you find yourself once again in the Moana Realm. Maui left all his supplies in a basket next to Moana’s fishing boat. Grabbing what he needs is quick and simple.

In a flash you’re back in Dreamlight Valley.

A Snack for a Hard-Working Demigod

Now that Maui has the Scraping Stones from the Moana Realm, he can get to work on your pickaxe. While he’s working, he wants you to make him a snack.

All in all, that’s not a bad exchange. You can make him anything you want, as long as it’s “fresh and delicious”. In other words, Maui wants you to cook a 5-Star meal.

Quest Task: Cook a fresh 5-Star meal for Maui.

Pro Tip: An easy 5-star meal is a Large Seafood Platter consisting of 1 lemon and 4 seafood (any). Clams and/or scallops are usually easy to find on the beach. No fishing required.

Meal Delivery

Maui is so easy. Feed him and he’s happy. In exchange, he upgrades your pickaxe!

Quest Task: Make sure you have a 5-Star meal in your Inventory.

An Upgraded Pickaxe

With your newly upgraded Royal Pickaxe in hand, you head back to Dazzle Beach with Maui.

That Large Sand Rockpile Debris is toast! With a quick whack, it’s crumbles, leaving behind the item that was lodged in the debris.

This Upgraded Pickaxe is great!

Sandstone and Fire

The Debris held a piece of sandstone. It triggers a memory for Maui. Before the Forgetting, Maui brought fire to Dreamlight Valley. The source of the fire was a Granite Fire Bowl.

He hasn’t seen the Granite Fire Bowl around anywhere, but with the sandstone you found, he could recreate it.

Yes, this is Maui’s next gift to Dreamlight Valley.

Quest Task: Show Maui what you found.

Stone and Fire

The Sandstone you found is the key to making your first Granite Fire Bowl. Gathering the rest of the material you need to make the Granite Fire Bowl, is simple enough. Much of it may already be in your inventory chests. Once you have all the items you need, head to a crafting station.

One Granite Fire Bowl coming up.

Quest Task: Gather the following items to craft a Granite Fire Bowl.

  • Sand – 20
  • Stone – 25
  • Coal Ore – 10
  • Red Falling Penstemon – 3

Quest Task: Craft a Granite Fire Bowl.

Pro Tip: Once you make the Granite Fire Bowl for this quest, you obtain the crafting recipe for it, so you can make more when the mood strikes. Luckily your new recipe does not require the quest item Broken Sandstone.

Bringing Fire to the Valley

Put the new Granite Fire Bowl somewhere in the Village where everyone can enjoy it. The location is completely up to you. Once you have it in place, check in with Maui. It was his idea after all. See what he thinks.

Quest Task: Place the Granite Fire Bowl in the Village.

Quest Task: Return to talk to Maui.
