Change Your Fate

It’s a chase to the artifact between Hades and Merida! Before The Forgetting, Merida hid a Clan Dunbroch artifact that is supposed to grant you the ability to change your fate. Hades asked her to help him find it, but she’s not willing to hand it over. Now, she too, is on the hunt for the artifact that will change your fate. Who is going to find it first?!

The Forgotten Artifact

Merida hid the Clan Dunbroch artifact, that allows you to change your fate, before The Forgetting. So, as you might expect, she doesn’t remember where she hid it.

Still, she needs to find it! Hades is asking about it and giving him the ability to change his fate may not turn out too well.

There is no time to lose, and Merida could really use some help.

Quest Task: Enter Merida’s cottage.

A Clue to the Clues

Merida has some old bags in her house from before the Neverafter. Search them for a clue to where the artifact may be.

When you open the bag, however, you find a note. Merida didn’t simply hide the Change Your Fate artifact and leave a note telling of its’ location. Instead, it looks like she had a close friend hide it for her.

But… who was her close friend before the Forgetting? She doesn’t remember!

A Close Friend

It appears you have a new mystery to solve before the search for the Clan Dunbroch Change Your Fate artifact can proceed. You need to figure out who Merida’s best friend is!

Merida did leave a little bit of a clue to the person’s identity in her note. Her best friend is good with a bo staff. That will help narrow down the list of Villager a lot.

In fact, one Villager in particular comes to mind. Check with Mulan.

Quest Task: Find Merida’s best friend – a fierce warrior who’s good with a bo staff.

Pro Tip: To get more of the dialog, talk to Moana and Mirabel before talking to Mulan.

A Giant Flying Horse

Mulan is indeed the friend Merida entrusted the clue with. Merida told Mulan to hide it someone even she, being Merida, wouldn’t find it.

So, Mulan did. She remembers putting the clue under the statue of a giant flying horse.

Head to Mythopia and the Elysian Fields. The flying horses await.

Quest Task: Search for the next clue under the wing of “a giant flying horse”

Quest Task: There’s something tucked under the flying horse statue’s wing…’

  • Take a picture of it.

Pro Tip: If you don’t remember exactly where the giant flying horse is, use the furniture placement option to scan the area. This is a nice technique to use when you are searching for landmarks or items that may be on the ground.

Pro Tip: If the task does not trigger as complete, step away from the giant flying horse. This should trigger the next task, which is to take a picture of the horse.

A Clue on a Hill

Mulan did a great job of hiding Merida’s clue. The flying horse is still protecting it and will continue to do that for a while. It’s way too high up the embankment for even you to reach.

Maybe Merida has some idea of how to get it down.

Take a picture of the bag on the hill and show it to Merida.

Quest Task: Show the picture to Merida in the Storybook Vale.

Shoot That Clue

Merida’s archery skills sure come in handy. She shoots an arrow at the bag containing the clue and it falls to the ground near your feet.

Quest Task: Talk to Merida.

The Second Clue

Ah yes. The Wolf of the Wilds inhabited the Wild Woods. There are several bodies of water in that area. Time to check them out.

Take a walk along the river that divides the Wild Woods. A Memory will be waiting for you on the bank. Pick it up.

Quest Task: Search for the next clue “where the Wolf drinks spilled tea”.

Quest Task: Pick up the clue along the river.

Pro Tip: Are you saving memories for a Star Path, by not picking them up until a task shows up? If so, this clue can be easy to miss. It looks just like any other Memory.

Read the Clue

The clue in the memory you just found is a bit vague. It says, “finding one’s place in the world under the eye of a watchful mother”.

A watchful mother? That must mean the next clue is in the Library of Lore! You just need to find it.

Quest Task: Talk to Merida

The Third Clue

Enter the east wing of the Library of Lore and interact with the globe near the stairs railing.

Another Memory Orb pops out. Pick it up and take a close look .

It’s a picture of the location where the Clan Dunbroch’s artifact is hidden!

The Hiding Place

The picture in the memory is definitely somewhere in the Bind. All you have to do now is match the Bind’s landscape with the picture and you’ll have the artifact safely out of Hades reach!

But of course, things just can’t be that simple. By the time you find the correct location, the artifact is gone. Left in its’ place is a note from Hades. He’s gloating and wants to be certain that you know he found the prize first!

Time to have a nice little chat with Hades.

Quest Task: Find the location from Merida’s Memory in the Bind and obtain her family artifact.

Quest Task: Uh-oh. Instead of a family artifact, you found a note from Hades. Show Merida what you found.

The Artifact

It is pretty obvious that Hades was expecting a visit from you. After a little chit chat, he’s ready to tell you about the artifact.

He was really hoping that finding an artifact that allows you to change your fate, would allow him to get back at The Fates, who he’s had many dealing with. But as it turns out, and it’s really quite sad, Merida’s family artifact has no power at all.

So, he’s more than happy to have you take it off his hands. It’s in his house. Go and retrieve it.

Quest Task: Talk to Hades.

Merida’s Memory Returns

As soon as Merida sees the family artifact, she starts to remember. This artifact doesn’t have any magical powers. It’s simply a shield with Clan DunBroch’s crest.

She hid it to protect it during The Forgetting. Just in case she forgot her family, this crest was sure to remind her! That is its’ power!

Quest Task: Give the Clan DunBrock Family Treasure to Merida.
