Clan DunBroch’s Rules of the Hunt

Merida is getting very tired of all the Snippets flying around Storybook Vale. If you are open to it, she would like to give you some pointers on how to catch them. She has learned a lot about tracking creatures over the years. And she is happy to share Clan DunBroch’s Rules of the Hunt with you. Especially if it gets the Snippets out of her hair!

Too Many Snippets

Ever have Flying Snippets caught in your hair? Well, Merida has and she is getting tired of it. To help you put your Royal Net to good use, Merida is going to teach you Clan DunBrock’s Rules of the Hunt.

Follow after Merida. She can’t wait to get started.

Clan DunBroch’s First Rule of the Hunt

The first Rule of the Hunt is to control the terrain. There are a lot of Mossy Logs littering The Bind. When you chase after Snippets, these Mossy Logs can get in the way.

Problem is, you don’t have any way to get rid of them.

Quest Task: Clan DunBroch’s first rule of the hunt: Control the terrain!

  • Use the Shovel Potion in your Inventory
  • Remove the Mossy Logs from the Bind – 6

A Shovel Potion

You’re in luck.

Merida found another potion in the Library of Lore, which she hands over to you. This potion should work wonders on your Royal Shovel, making it strong enough to dig up the Mossy Logs!

Use the “Shovel Potion” Merida gives you. It can be found in your Backpack Inventory.

Head over to a Mossy Log and start digging. The Log is instantly turned into small moss piles which you can easily pick up. You can now control your terrain by clearing away more of the Mossy Logs.

Clan DunBroch’s Second Rule of the Hunt

Good Job! The Bind looks much better and according to Merida, you’re ready to learn Clan DunBroch’s second Rule of the Hunt: Use everything at your disposal to trap your prey.

Now this sounds interesting. There are a lot of resources in Storybook Vale for you to use.

But Merida has something more specific in mind. She has instructions on how to make a trap that will slow the Snippets down, making them much easier to catch. It’s called, coincidentally, a Slow Trap.

All you need to do is gather the materials listed in the instructions and craft it.

Quest Task: Use the Bind Slow Trap Recipe from your Inventory.

Set the Trap

Set the Fall Leaves Slow Trap in The Bind. The exact location is completely up to you.

As soon as it’s placed, the Snippets in the area have a swirling mist around them, indicating that they are being affected by the traps. Their movements will now be 20% slower.

Quest Task: Place the Fall Leaves Slow Trap anywhere in the bind.

Quest Task: Return to Merida.

Pro Tip: The Snippet Trap slows the Snippets in the area down by 20%. If you want to slow them down even more, interact with the Trap and upgrade it. This will cost Storybook Magic.

Clan DunBroch’s Third Rule of the Hunt

You’re ready for the third Rule of the Hunt. Be patient! This is something even Merida struggles with!

Might as well give it a try, however. The Snippets are flying a little slower, so you should be able to sneak up on them easier!

Head out and catch 10 Snippets for Merida.

Clan DunBroch’s Fourth Rule of the Hunt

On to Clan DunBroch’s Fourth Rule of the Hunt. Let nothing go to waste.

In the case of Snippets, that means returning them to The Lorekeeper’s pages. You can do that by talking to the Lorekeeper and selecting the dialog option to reorder stories.

This option brings up a jigsaw puzzle for you to put together.

The puzzle pieces are located on the side of a puzzle canvas in random order. To build your puzzle, simply drag and drop the puzzle pieces into place on the canvas. Don’t worry. You can move the pieces around and back to the side if you don’t happen to place them in the correct position on the canvas.

You also get a reward the first time you complete a puzzle, so that’s a nice perk.

Quest Task: Clan DunBroch’s fourth rule of the hunt: Let nothing go to waste!

  • Rearrange any Tale in the Lorekeeper’s pages. You may need to catch some more Snippets first!
  • Talk to the Lorekeeper and select “Reorder Tales” from the dialogue submenu

Clan DunBroch’s Fifth Rule of the Hunt

The Snippets have been returned to the Lorekeepers pages. Now it’s time for the fifth Rule of the Hunt – Commemorate a successful hunt!

For Clan DunBroch, this usually mean having a trophy or tapestry made. Merida simply decides to give you a special gift.

It’s a Storybook Frame!

Hang the Storybook Frame

Place the Storybook Frame somewhere in your house. When you place this great picture frame on a wall, it displays one of the puzzles that you have completed! You can even craft more Storybook Frames if you want to display more of the Lorekeeper’s pictures!

Merida has one last rule to share with you. This one is the most important, it seems.

The rule is…there are no rules! When faced with a dangerous situation, like a demon bear, you simply do what must be done to get out of danger!
