You found a Dark Crystal in the Forest of Valor that Merlin calls a Night Shard. He’s convinced there are more buried throughout Dreamlight Valley.

It’s almost like a treasure hunt. Grab your Royal Shovel and see what you can find. The Night Shards seem to be located in cracked earth spots, so all you need to do is dig them up.

Quest Task: Gather 5 Night Shards – 5.

Quest Task: Go Back to Merlin with all the Night Shards.

Merlin in convince that the Night Shards were once Dream Shards. But these have been corrupted by darkness. It’s the same darkness that is creating the Night Thorns and causing The Forgetting.

He believes that combining a Night Shard with a Dream Shard might just purify it.

Head to a nearby crafting station and give it a try. You’ll find the Purified Night Shard recipe under Potion & Enchantment in the crafting station’s menu.

Quest Task: Craft the Purified Night Shard.

It worked! Combining the Night Shard and the Dream Shard created a Shiny new Crystal. It is aptly called a “Purified Night Shard” and to Merlin’s mind is a very significant magical discovery.

The more you learn about Dreamlight, Dream Shards, Night Shards and the like, the closer you get to figuring out how to stop The Forgetting!

Quest Task: Make sure you have the Purified Night Shard in your Inventory.

The Purified Night Shard is very pretty. It’s also harmless in this purified state, so it makes a great gift for one of your friends.

As you consider which Villager to give the crystal, Merlin leaves to ponder what his next experiment is going to be now that the crystal mystery has been solved.
