Currency of Eternity Isle

Welcome to Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Eternity Isle. The new expansion, A Rift in Time, brings you lots of mysteries to uncover and new places to explore. As you embark on your new adventures, you’ll enter new areas that can only be opened by using Mist, Eternity Isle’s new currency. What is Mist and where do you find it? We’re here to help.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Currency

Disney Dreamlight Valley has many different types of currency. Two are unique to Dreamlight Valley or Eternity Isle, while all the others are used in both places.

Currency by Location:

  • Dreamlight Valley Currency: Dreamlight, Star Coins, Moonstones, and Star Path Tokens. Dreamlight is used exclusively in Dreamlight Valley.
  • Eternity Isle Currency: Mist, Star Coins, Moonstones, and Star Path Tokens. Mist is only used on Eternity Isle.

Let’s focus on the new addition to the currency list. Mist.

Pro Tip: For more information on the currencies that are common to both Dreamlight Valley and Eternity Isle, check out our guide: Ultimate Guide to Disney Dreamlight Valley Currency.

Mist Uses

You use Mist on Eternity Isle, in a very similar way to how you use Dreamlight in Dreamlight Valley.

Mist is used to:

  • Open new sections of Eternity Isle
  • Complete Quests tasks
  • Upgrade the Royal Hourglass
  • Craft important items

One of the earliest and arguably most important uses of Mist is to provide access to new sections of Eternity Isle, of which there are many.

Eternity Isle is made up of three large areas. Each of these areas contains multiple smaller sections for you to explore. To enter these sections, you need Mist. As in Dreamlight Valley, Merlin is always on hand at the blocked entrances to new places, letting you know just how much of this precious Mist currency it will take to enter.

Gathering Mist – Mist Duties

The easiest and fastest way to collect Mist is by completing Mist Duties.

Mist Duties are found under Dreamlight in your menu. While you’re on Eternity Isle, Mist Duties will replace Dreamlight Duties at the top of the list.

Mist Duties react in the same way as Dreamlight Duties did in Dreamlight Valley. A continuous list of 6 Mist Duties will always be available for you to perform. As soon as you complete and collect the reward for an existing Mist Duty, a new one takes its place. This gives you the ability to earn an unlimited amount of Mist!

At the very bottom of the Dreamlight menu, there is also a separate category of finite Mist Duties. It’s called simply, “Eternity Isle”. The Eternity Isle Duties provide additional options for earning Mist, especially early in the Eternity Isle adventure.

Unlike Mist Duties, however, the duties listed under Eternity Isle do not regenerate. When you complete a duties’ milestone, that duty moves to the end of the list and the ones that are still open move up. After all the duties have been completed and rewards collected, this section is complete.

Gathering Mist Through Cleanup

Cleaning up the various areas of the island will also produce Mist, at least sometimes.

Dig up some ground. Break a few Copper Rocks. After your pickaxe is upgraded that is, which happens during The Secrets of Eternity Isle quest. These are a couple examples of the cleanup you likely do on a daily basis. Unfortunately, getting Mist during these activities is very random, so it’s not the best option if you’re looking to make Mist quickly.

Removing Splinters of Fate and Swirling Stands, however, provide Mist a little more consistently.

Splinters of Fate

Splinters of Fate are the Crystals that grow around Eternity Isle. Remove them in the same fashion as you remove Night Thorns (approach and click “a” – Switch).

Clearing the Splinters of Fate with your magic produces a variety of items. The most noteworthy items you get are Star Coins and Mist.

Swirling Sands

Getting rid of the Swirling Sands takes a little more effort. None of the equipment you have when you first arrive on Eternity Isle will impact them.

During Jafar’s quest, The Flying Metal Nuisance, you obtain a new Royal Tool. It’s called the Royal Hourglass. At the end of the quest, Jafar upgrades your Royal Hourglass, which makes it powerful enough to eliminate the Swirling Sands. (Approach the Swirling Sands and click “y” – Switch)

Swirling Sands almost always leave behind Mist. Very appreciated!

Treasure Hunting

The Royal Hourglass is a great treasure hunting tool as well. Raise it high, by pressing “a” on the Switch, and the sands it gives off will direct you to new treasure.

It’s sort of a hot/cold game. The glow of sand that the Royal Hourglass produces will turn gold and then red as you get closer to the treasure. Once it’s red, hit “a” repeatedly and the treasure will be pulled from its’ hiding spot.

One of the treasures you’ll find is Mist!
