Jafar’s Laboratory

You are inside the Palace of Time on Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Eternity Isle. Jafar is in the Throne Room, but the path to him is blocked by chains. Somewhere in Jafar’s Laboratory is the key that will unlock the chains. Solve the puzzle that awaits, and the key is yours!

The Palace Entrance Hall

You’ve reached the hallway leading to the throne in the Palace of Time. Jafar has placed large chains in your path to stop your progress. The lock holding the chains together can be unlocked. All you need to do is find the key.

Head up the curved staircase on the left side of the Throne Room in search of the key. When you reach the top of the stairs, a wide hallway stretches to your left. Proceed down the hallway, using your Royal Hourglass to clear the way as you go.

Exploring the Palace

Continue through the doorway at the far end of the wide hallway and up the next set of stairs.

When you reach the top, you can see the entrance to Jafar’s Laboratory just ahead.

Jafar’s Laboratory

When you enter Jafar’s Laboratory, there is much to see. A large Hourglass is just ahead and beyond that is a door blocked with a magical barrier.

Ah Ha! There is a key on a pedestal in the room beyond the barrier. This must be the key you need. Now you just need to figure out how to remove the magic barrier.

Quest Task: Explore Jafar’s Laboratory.

Floor Switches

As you examine the Laboratory more closely, you notice that this room has a floor circuit as well. The circuit appears to connect a Power Coil in the wall, currently missing, to a mirror on a pedestal near the center of the room.

There are two round dials in the floor circuit. The one closest to the Power Coil’s Wall Socket is in the proper position. The second one, however, is not.

Turn the dial on the right (when facing the Power Coil’s Wall Socket) one turn and it will complete the circuit. Nothing more will happen, however, until you find the missing Power Coil.

Check for Clues

There is a small set of stairs leading to a raised area in Jafar’s Laboratory. This appears to be where Jafar keeps his notes and equipment. Head up the stairs and see what you can find.

Jafar’s pet bird, Annoying Nuisance, is flying at the top of the stairs. He claims to know how you can get to the key, but he won’t tell you anything worthwhile until you feed him.

Lucky for you, Jafar left a note on his desk regarding Annoying Nuisance’s unique food preferences.

Quest Task: Look around for a clue about what to feed the bird.

An Odd Combination

It appears the bird enjoys a very unique diet. Jafar keeps ingredients for his meals on a nearby table.

The problem is that the recipe in Jafar’s note indicates some of the ingredients need to be ripe, while others need to be rotten.

Everything on the table is ripe and fresh.

Hmm.

Gather the ripe vegetables from the table of ingredients:

  • Ripe Tomato
  • Ripe Carrot

Go over to the Hourglass near the top of the stairs and turn it so that the blue side is up. The room will change round you.

Check the table of ingredients again. Now the food on it is rotten. Pick up the fish.

  • Rotten Clam
  • Rotten Fish

Turn the Hourglass once again, so that the red side is on top, to return the room to what it was when you entered. Head to the cooking station next to the table of ingredients and combine the items you gathered to create Bird Food!

Quest Task: Try to figure out what the bird wants to eat by mixing ingredients at the Cooking Station.

Food Delivery

Annoying Nuisance is very happy with the food you prepared! It’s gone in a flash.

In exchange, he hands you the missing Power Coil, which he calls “the shiny thing”.

Quest Task: Bring the meal to the bird.

Replace the Power Coil

Head back down the stairs to the main level of Jafar’s laboratory and place the Power Coil in its’ Wall Socket. You’re making progress, but there is still more to do.

In order to get the door to open, you must trigger the button on the wall to the right of the magic barrier. This requires turning the mirror, 2 times, so that it faces the corner between the Power Coil and the Magic Barrier.

Flip either Hourglass, they work together, so that the blue side is up. This will cause a light beam to pour into the room and hit the mirror, which will in turn redirect the light to the button on the wall.

This causes the magic barrier to drop! You can now reach the key!!

Quest Task: Search for where the “shiny thing” belongs.

Quest Task: Align the light beam to open the door.

Grab the Key

Grab the key from the small room and get ready to return to the Throne Room. But, before you can exit Jafar’s Laboratory, you’ll need to turn the Hourglass one more time.

With the red side up, the room’s exit is once again open, and you can leave. Retrace your steps until you reach the chains locked together across the Throne Room.

Quest Task: Pick up the key in the chamber.

Unlock the Chain Gate

Place the key in the lock, by interacting with it, and remove the chains. The path is clear!

Look out Jafar. You’re coming!
