The Pillar of Nurturing

With four Pillars restored, Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Sunlit Plateau is your next destination. You find the Pillar of Nurturing on the east bank of the river that runs through the Sunlit Plateau’s center. As in the other areas, the Pillar of Nurturing is surrounded by Dark Magic. The orb is nowhere in sight. Finding someone who knows where it is, may prove to be quite a challenge. Join us in Nature & Nurturing.

Sunlit Plateau

The Sunlit Plateau is an interesting place. There is a fascinating mine in the northern cliff and the Elephant Graveyard just east of that. A Giant Skull lies in the Graveyard, that just begs to be explored. The entrance to the Giant Skull, once completely blocked by large rocks, is now open.

It’s hard to resist. Time to check it out.

Nature & Nurture

Scar gives you more information on what happened in Dreamlight Valley at the time of The Forgetting, specifically in the Sunlit Plateau.

It was at that time that the river, flowing down the center of the area, started to dry up. Something must be blocking the flow of water that comes from a source within the Vitalys Mines.

You must find a way to restore the flow of water if you want to save the Sunlit Plateau! The area nature needs nurturing. It’s all connected…kind of like the Circle of Life.

Vitalys Cave

Enter the Vitalys Mines. It is a fascinating place. The mineral veins glow and while it’s a dark mine, it’s also rather pretty in places.

Unfortunately, Night Thorns of all sizes have also twisted their way into the mines.

Investigate the maze of tunnels until you reach the path that leads to a rise in the center of the mines. Continue up to find a small work area near what used to be a pond which spilled over to the river below.

There are Giant Night Thorns descending from the ceiling and they are particularly dense here. You’ve found what is blocking the water!

But, these Giant Night Thorns don’t respond to your magic. Now what?!

Quest Task: Enter the Vitalys Mines at the mouth of the river in the Sunlit Plateau.

Quest Task: Explore the Vitalys Mines and find whatever’s blocking the river.

Planning Ahead

Someone was obviously planning ahead. There are instructions posted on a sign near the blocked waterway. It says something about… Root Beer?! Perhaps it’s a joke.

Quest Task: Check the sign next to the barrel in the Vitalys Mines.

No Joke

No, it is definitely not a joke. It’s a clue!!

It states that Fizzy Root Beer gets rid of the Night Thorns and the unique ingredients that you need are in one of the chests that was left inside the Vitalys Mines.

Gather what you can from inside the Vitalys Mines. Then, you need to consult with Merlin.

Quest Task: Search the mining camp in the Vitalys Mines for the ingredients.

Pro Tip: If you picked up the chest in a prior trek through the mines. It contained special “Dried Ginger” and Crackling Candy, along with the Root Beer Recipe. The Dried Ginger and Crackling Candy are unique to this quest and will still be in your inventory.

Merlin’s Advice

Merlin had forgotten about the Vitalys Mines!

As you explain what you found there, his memory starts to come back.

It’s true. Before you returned to Dreamlight Valley, the only way to control the Night Thorns was with carbonated drinks, like Root Beer. It seems the Night thorns don’t like the fizz!

Unfortunately, however, this only worked on the very small Night Thorns. If you are going to get rid of the Giant Night Thorns that are blocking the water in the Vitalys Mines, you are going to need an Extra Fizzy version of the Root Beer.

Quest Task: Tell Merlin what you’ve found.

Gather the Remaining Ingredients

The Extra Fizzy Root Beer recipe you found in the Vitalys Mines requires a few ingredients that were not found in the chests located there. You still need Vanilla and Sugarcane to complete the recipe.

You may have already collected some of these during your travels, but if you don’t have enough, here is where to find them.

Vanilla

  • Grows wild in the Sunlit Plateau.

Sugarcane

  • Sold: Goofy’s Stall on Dazzle Beach (appears randomly)
  • Cost: 29 Star Coins
  • Sugarcane Seeds Sold: Goofy’s Stall on Dazzle Beach (first seeds sold)
  • Seed Cost: 5 Star Coins
  • Grow Time: 7 min.
  • Harvest: 1

Unblock the River

Head back to the Vitalys Mines and interact with the barrel near the Giant Night Thorns.

Stand back and watch. The Extra Fizzy Root Beer bubbles and explodes out of the barrel, covering the nasty Giant Night Thorns. The Giant Night Thorns crumble and dissolve.

As soon as the Giant Night Thorns are gone, clear water flows out.

Quest Task: Clear the Night Thorn roots blocking the water source in the mine.

  • Put the Extra Fizzy Root Beer and the Crackling Candies in the Barrel.

A Flowing River … But What’s this

As you exit the Vitalys Mine to check on the river, you see the Forgotten curse the water and then take off through another Dark Portal.

The Forgotten looks like you!!

No time to waste, chase after them.

Quest Task: Return to the Sunlit Plateau to see if the river has been restored.

Grab the Orb

In their haste, The Forgotten dropped the orb. Luckily for you, the orb falls on the path just in front of where The Forgotten blocks the way forward.

With the path blocked and no place else to go, head back to Dreamlight Valley. But don’t forget to grab the orb before you leave.

Quest Task: The Forgotten dropped something!

  • Pick it up.

A Dull Orb

You’ve found the Orb of Nurturing, but it’s not glowing brightly like the others you’ve collected. Show it to Merlin.

Nature and Nurturing, hmm. Merlin explains that the orb feeds off of the life in nature. To restore it, you need to plant it in the ground near the Sunlit Plateau’s Pillar and let nature nurture it.

However, you can help nature along a little.

Quest Task: Show Merlin what you’ve found.

Quest Task: Gather the following items needed for the Miracle Growth Elixir.

  • Mine Vitalys Crystal from rocks in the Vitalys Mines – 10
  • Rich Soil – 10
  • Dreamlight – 1K (1000)

Head to a nearby Crafting Station and mix up a batch of Miracle Growth Elixir.

You’ll find the recipe under the Potion & Enchantment Menu.

Quest Task: Craft the Miracle Growth Elixir.

Quest Task: Use the Miracle Growth Elixir in your Backpack to upgrade your Watering Can.

Pro Tip: Even More Miraculous Growth Elixir does not make things grow faster. It simply allows you to water more plants before it is used up.

An Elixir for Your Thoughts

Use the Miracle Growth Elixir from your Backpack Inventory and your Royal Watering Can will temporarily take on a special glow. It will continue to glow until you’ve used up all the Miracle Growth Elixir.

Quest Task: Use the Miracle Growth Elixir in your Backpack to upgrade your Watering Can.

Quest Task: Talk to Merlin.

Pro Tip: Miracle Growth Elixir is normally used to water your garden. It immediately turns dry plants into mature produce, ready to be harvested. In this quest, however, you won’t see an immediate change.

Helping Nature & Nuture

Plant the Orb near the Pillar in the Sunlit Plateau and keep it watered. It will take a minimum of 48 hours before you can continue with the quest.

Quest Task: Plant the Orb of Nurturing at the Pillar in the Sunlit Plateau.

Quest Task: Tend to the Orb of Nurturing until it’s fully restored (This may take a few days).

Pro Tip: It will take a minimum of 48 hours for the Orb to recover its’ strength and that’s if you make sure it stays watered. If it dries out for a spell, the length of time you have to wait is more.

Nature & Nurture Success

As Nature nurtures the Orb, the Darkness around the Pillar of Nurturing is dispelled. Flowers surround the Pillar, and the glowing orb resumes its’ place inside the Pillar of Nurturing.

The cursed water also clears. Things are looking up for the Sunlit Plateau.

Quest Task: Check on the Orb of Nurturing on the Sulit Plateau.

Scar is going to be a handful. He continues to taunt you about being the ruler and insists the Sunlit Plateau is his domain.

You are the ruler of Dreamlight Valley, and you are more than up to the task!
