Today’s forecast: Foggy with a chance of blizzard.

At the beginning of Update 3, we wake up in the morning to find an unusually cloudy day and an interesting cut scene. A Great Blizzard rages in the Frosted Height!

A new quest is now available: The Great Blizzard

A new character profile picture has magically appeared.

We are welcoming: Olaf!

Valley Weather: Warm with a Chance of Clouds and…Blizzard?

There is a magical and mysterious blizzard that has popped up in Frosted Heights and seems to be making everywhere else a bit foggy. To fix this magical mystery, we need to check in with our favorite wizard.

Consult with Merlin

Merlin believes that we need to fix the pillar at the center of the problem. You guessed it. We are headed to Frosted Heights. However, in typical Disney Dreamlight Valley fashion, the orb is missing and he can’t remember something important about it.

Search clues in the Frosted Heights…

Quest Task: Search around for clues to the source of the blizzard in Frosted Heights…

After changing into appropriate attire, optional of course.

Something new has appeared toward the back of the Frosted Heights, near the pillar.

Note: If you previously decorated in this small area, some of your décor may have been moved around a bit to make way for the expansion. My items and Anna’s house was moved but nothing was removed.

Enter the NEW Secret Chamber!

Quest Task: Enter the Secret Chamber in the wall of the cliff in the Frosted Heights.

In typical Olaf fashion, he starts talking to you the moment you enter the room. He has a lot to say about why he is there. Part of the story includes some Scary Squirrels taking off with his nose and buttons. He asks you to find them for him.

Pro Tip: Before leaving the room, pick up the six diary pages.

Search the blizzard for the Scary Squirrels

Quest Task: Search the blizzard and chase down the Scary Squirrels to get Olaf’s buttons and nose back.

There are four squirrels. Chase them and hit your okay key (X on the PS4 and PS5, A on Switch) when you get close. Each will have one item. There are three buttons and Olaf’s nose.

Note: If you have trouble finding the squirrels, they are all on the pillar side of the river in Frosted Heights.

Return the Nose & Buttons to Olaf

Quest Task: Return to the secret chamber and bring Olaf his Nose and Buttons

Before returning to the chamber, make sure the 3 buttons and Olaf’s nose are in your inventory.

Olaf is grateful for your help and has another mystery for you to solve. His arms are still missing, as is the object he was carrying. He believes water has memory and Elsa can help you bring those memories to the surface.

Talk to Elsa (or Merlin)

Elsa advises you that your watering can may have a hidden talent from long ago and to head back to the pillar in Frosted Heights. She believes that you will find answers there.

Pro Tip: When the quest was first released with Update 3, Elsa was the person to talk to. When the game went into General Availability, Dec 5, 2023, the quest sent you to Merlin instead. Noteworthy, during this later play through, I did not have Elsa unlocked when the quest triggered nor was she used in this quest.

Water the bubbles near the Pillar

Quest Task: Use your watering can on the sparkling water particles near the Pillar.

There is a patch of frozen bubbles in front of the pillar. Use your watering can on the bubbles to see if you can obtain the memory from the water there.

PRO TIP: There is a mini-cut scene here so pay close attention!

Talk to Elsa about what you saw.

She talks you off the cliff of self-recrimination and tells you to search the chamber for more clues.

Return to the Secret Chamber

Quest Task: Return to Olaf in the secret Chamber

Talk to Olaf when you return. He is very focused on his missing arms. He suggests that you try using your watering can in the cave.

Water the Sparkling Spots

PRO TIP: After each sparkling water spot there is a mini cut scene.

There are two locations with these instructions:

  • Quest Task: Use your Watering Can on the sparking water particles in the secret chamber.
  • Quest Task: Use your Watering Can on the sparking water particles closer to the portal in the secret chamber.

There go Olaf’s Arms!

Talk to Olaf

During the cut scenes, we see the orb with Olaf’s arms still attached being tossed through the portal at the back of the room. Olaf tells you there is a book about portals in the secret chamber.

Find a book about portals in the secret chamber.

There are four books around the room to pick up. (Do the book titles remind you of any other magical world?)

After you have collected them, return to Olaf.

The Dreamlight Prism

Talk to Olaf. Together you read the book and discover a spell to fix the portal. You will need to make a Dreamlight Prism and “focus all the colors of the rainbow” through it. Then tell it your biggest fear.

You start by fixing the Dreamlight Prism. There are three pieces of a broken prism on the floor. Gather them and head out to find the rest of the needed materials.

Dreamlight Prism:

    • 10 Glass
    • 5 Purified Night Shards
    • 3 Shattered Prism Pieces

Craft the Dreamlight Prism at a Crafting Station

Find the nearest crafting station. You will find the Dreamlight Prism crafting recipe under Functional Items.

Once you have it in your inventory, make your way back to the Secret Chamber.

PROTIP: If you want to save yourself some time running around, read the next section on the Rainbow Gems before heading back to see Olaf after making the Dreamlight Prism.

Crafting the Dreamlight Prism

Place the Dreamlight Prism on the pedestal in the Secret Chamber.

Head back to the Secret Chamber with your new Prism. Walk up the pedestal closest to Olaf and place the Dreamlight Prism. Note: It must be in your inventory for this to work.

The Rainbow Gems

Once you have placed the Dreamlight Prism, you focus on the missing gems on the pedestals closer to the portal. The spell said that you need to “focus all the colors of the rainbow” through the Dreamlight Prism so you need to discover which gems are missing.

You can walk up to the pedestals that have colored lights above them and interact with them. Each will tell you which gem is already in place on that pedestal.

Replace the Missing Gems

Quest Task: Figure out which gems are missing in the secret chamber and replace them.

Note: The Gems with *, such as Topaz*, are the existing gems that have already been placed for you. You can find the Emeralds, Citrine and Garnets by mining throughout the Valley. Check out our Mining Guide for exact locations!

After you have all the gems in your inventory, return to the Secret Chamber and place them on the corresponding pedestals.

Whisper your deepest fear to the portal.

Quest Task: Whisper one of your deepest fears to the flickering portal in the secret chamber.

AND…Cut Scene!

Olaf’s Arms are Back! Oh, we have the Orb, too.

Quest Task: The Orb seems to be broken. But at least you have found Olaf’s arms…Give Olaf his arms back.

Olaf is overjoyed to have his arms back! To make you feel better that the Orb is broken, Olaf gives you a magical hug that seems to make everything better!

Place the Orb in the Pillar in the Frosted Heights.

The Orb suddenly lights up with power from the magical hug. Place it in the Pillar just outside the Secret Chamber.

The magic flows through the Valley and once again, all is well in Disney Dreamlight Valley!

PROTIP: Before moving to the final step in this quest, decide what job/role you want Olaf to have. He will level up as soon as you talk to him.
