Merlin is working hard to discover how to use some of the natural resources found around Dreamlight Valley. His most recent work deals with the Vitalys Crystals found in the Vitalys Mines. Mixing them with Dreamlight and a few other resources, has produced very exciting results.

Merlin is working miracles. Specifically, he’s created Miracle Potions for your Royal Tools!

His experiments have produced three different kinds of potions. He’s almost as excited to have you try them out as you are and hands you some samples! Better yet, he subtly gives you the recipes so you can craft them yourself!!

With Merlin’s new Miracle Potions, your Royal Tools will temporarily become more efficient. You get more rare fish when fishing, more gems when mining and treasures when digging. He even hints at the fact that there may be an even more Miraculous and powerful version of these potions available, if you experiment with more ingredients.

The first new potion Merlin gives you called Miracle Pickaxe Polish. Use it from your Backpack Inventory on your Royal Pickaxe. The Royal Pickaxe will glow, as long as the Miracle Pickaxe Polish it in effect.

This great magical polish will last for approximately 10 swings of your pickaxe and have more gems falling at your feet.

Miracle Pickaxe Polish Crafting Recipe:

• 10 Vitalys Crystal
• 5 Onyx
• 500 Dreamlight

Head to a nearby crafting station to whip up a batch. You will find the crafting recipe under Potion & Enchantment.

Here’s how it works:

Once the Miracle Pickaxe Polish is applied to your pickaxe, mining spots that contain gems, are likely to produce extra gems. The Miracle Pickaxe Polish does give you 10 swings of your pickaxe. However, our tests show that you get one “free” swing at each Mining Spot. In our experience, the free swing was always the last one.

So, in other words, if it takes 5 swings to completely break a Mining Spot, only 4 of the swings will “use up” some of the pickaxe polish. Nice!

There is a second and more powerful version of the Miracle Pickaxe Polish that also appears in your crafting station recipe list, under Potion & Enchantment. It’s the Even More Miraculous Pickaxe Polish.

Although Merlin didn’t give you a sample of this one, it’s easy enough to make if you have enough materials.

Even More Miraculous Pickaxe Polish Crafting Recipe:

• 20 Vitalys Crystal
• 10 Onyx
• 1000 Dreamlight

While 1000 Dreamlight is needed for this great polish, it lasts much longer. This version of the polish gives you 25 swings of the pickaxe, plus 1 free swing at each mining spot.

As is true with all the potions, take along a friend who specializes in the Royal Tools skill, in this case mining, and you’ll increase the amount of loot you get even more!

The Miracle Fishing Bait is another one of Merlin’s discoveries.

This potion turns any white fishing circles you find to red, allowing you to easily find the rare fish in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Be aware, however, that the potion has no effect on the blue circles.

Still on the plus side, if the potion is in effect, any fishing you do in existing red circles, blue circles or even outside of the circles does not use up any of the potion.

The Miracle Fishing Bait turns 10 white fishing circles red. The crafting recipe is found under Potion & Enchantment.

Miracle Fishing Bait Crafting Recipe:

• 10 Vitalys Crystal
• 5 Red Algae
• 500 Dreamlight

The Even More Miraculous Fishing Bait is the more powerful version of this potion. It turns 25 white circles red. It’s a great option if you need a lot of rare fish. You just need to use it up before you can catch the common fish from the white circles again.

Even More Miraculous Fishing Bait Crafting Recipe:

• 20 Vitalys Crystal
• 10 Red Algae
• 1000 Dreamlight

The last potion that Merlin gives you is the Miracle Shovel Varnish. Use this potion on your Royal Shovel if you need to dig up a lot of resources, like…clay, and want to speed up the process.

The Miracle Shovel Varnish is enough potion for you to dig 10 holes. You’ll see a lot more stuff, um treasure, flying out of the holes while it’s in effect.

It should be noted, however, that while the potion is working miracles in speeding up natural resource collection, it does not have any affect when you use your Royal Shovel for daily cleanup tasks. For example: removing Bones Clusters from the Sunlit Plateau or digging in cracked earth spots.

Sad, but true.

• 10 Dry Wood
• 500 Dreamlight

As with the other potions, the Even More Miraculous Shovel Varnish is the more powerful version. It is enough for digging 25 holes.

• 20 Dry Wood
• 1000 Dreamlight

When you add Merlin’s 3 new types of potions to the 1 you receive during Scar’s Quest “Nature & Nurture“, you have a great inventory of working miracle potions to help make cleaning up Dreamlight Valley so much easier.

Now you just need to build up a nice inventory of materials, so you can whip these potions up whenever you need them!

Good thing the Dreamlight Duties regenerate continually. You are going to need a lot of Dreamlight before you’re done!
